I am present
in this photo
of an empty chair
I am still
steady and enduring
not rocking
I am the eye
that sees
an oddness, a beauty
and presents it
in a frame
to you
now you
are present
too

🙂 Reminds me of a poem by one of my favorite poets, Wallace Stevens:
Theory
I am what is around me.
Women understand this.
One is not duchess
A hundred yards from a carriage.
These, then are portraits:
A black vestibule;
A high bed sheltered by curtains.
These are merely instances.

Well, who wouldn’t be flattered to have triggered such an association!? Thanks Tom.
